Crisalion Mobility has scooped an Expansión StartUp Award, placing second in the Mobility and Smart Cities category. The awards ceremony was held on 13 December at Barcelona’s Hotel Intercontinental, and all the finalists were present.

This was the fifth edition of the awards, which have become an established benchmark in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and place new and thriving start-ups on the map for funds and investors. The awards are sponsored by Abertis, CaixaBank and Cellnex. Deusto Emprende is the academic collaborator and BHV Partners and INFO (the Murcia regional development agency) are collaborating entities.

On 23 November, the jury met to choose the winners from among 24 companies selected by Deusto Emprende out of the 90 candidatures presented, of which 64 were valid.

At the awards ceremony, the director of EXPANSIÓN, Ana I. Pereda, praised those who “have an idea and are able to put it into practice to create a new business and jobs”. She emphasised that, “Today we are rewarding innovation that brings new products and services to the market and to customers, but we are also recognising people’s determination to make projects work and applauding their entrepreneurial spirit”.

Pereda highlighted the strength of the Spanish innovation ecosystem, comprised of “solid companies producing developments of high technological value“, and she noted that 60% of Spanish start-ups generate revenue, 16% report positive EBITDA—that’s one point above the European average—and 63% have already launched a working product on the market. She also hailed Spain’s start-up law, which came into force at the end of 2022, as “an important step forward” in strengthening entrepreneurial activity.
